In 1992, he and his wife set up their own company named Cameron Golf International and started selling the Scotty Cameron Classic line of putters.

During this time, they traveled to various PGA Tour events and tried to convince players to use their putters. In 1993, they got their big break when Bernhard Langer won the 1993 Masters Tournament using their prototype putter.

In 1994, they made a deal with Acushnet Company to make putters exclusively for them. After the deal, his company became one of the leading names in golf.
